My Experience in Torino (Italy)

by Pinkesh Choksey, Executive Director

We were invited by one of the leading Industry Associations from Torino, Italy to present our findings on the Study conducted for them in Mechatronics (Machine Tool sector).

It was a large gathering of around 250 participants from various industries in the region.  I was amazed as I really did not expect such a large gathering.  The auditorium was packed and an extra room was organized with a projection facility and a television for additional participants.

It was a great experience for me and I was very excited, as for the first time my presentation was getting translated in the local language for everyone to understand.

The findings of the Study were very well appreciated by everyone present and they also mentioned that it would be a very useful document for them to move forward.

The city of Torino is very beautiful, calm and quiet.  It was very cold and temperatures were near 0°C.  The buildings there are typically low rise and one can see the ancient Roman architecture.  The city is famous for FIAT’s Headquarters and also for its chocolates.  There are special shops selling only chocolates.  This region is also a centre for fashion and jewelry in Italy.  The people there are very friendly and helpful by nature.

Food for thought…

A Philosophy we share

• I believe in the supreme worth of the individual and in his right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

• I believe that every right implies a responsibility;every opportunity,an obligation;every possession a duty.I believe that the law was made for man and not man for the law;that government is the servant of people and not their master.

• I believe in the dignity of labour, whether the head or hand;that the world owes no man a living but what it owes every man an opportunity to make a living.

• I believe thrift is essential to well-ordered living and that economy is a prime requisite of a sound financial structure, business or personal affairs.

• I believe that truth and justice are fundamental to an enduring social order.

• I believe in the sacredness of a promise, that a man’s world should be as good as his bond, that character – not wealth or power or position – is of supreme worth.

• I believe that the rendering of useful service is the common duty of mankind and that only in the purifying fire of sacrifice is the dross of selfishness consumed and the greatness of the human soul set free.

• I believe in an all-wise and all-loving God,named by whatever name, and that the individual’s highest fulfillment, greatest happiness and widest usefulness are to be found in living in harmony with his will.

• I believe that love is the greatest thing in the world;that it alone can overcome hate;that it alone can and will triumph over might.
